Hi i working 10 years with Windows servers. I dont work with Apache beter choice it is IIS (if you have 2008 R2 you have version 7.5). IIS (Internet Information Service) it almost same apliacation about Apache but much more faster and do not create lags. IIS runs each website as a standalone application natively supported 64-bit. It can thus use significantly more memory than of competitive apache. If you have Biger sites IIS is best choice for you. I install into every server this functions: 1) IIS with coplete configurations (with all frameworks) 2) PHP servers 5.5.x, 5.4.x, 5.3.x, 5.2.x 3) MySQL Sever + Phpmyadmin 4) FTP server (Cerberus or Filezilla) 5) Mail server: MailEnable, Axigen, HmailServer + Roundcube Interface etc. 6) Complete Automatic Backup system

Hi, I am a system administrator and have experience with Wordpress performance optimisation, check my feedbacks. Optimisation under Windows can be done similarly to Linux, install Memcached, APC and nginx. Varnish doesn't have native libraries for Windows, though it can be setup in cygwin, but it adds an additional software layer and performance may suffer. MySQL can also be optimised according to server load. Wordpress would also benefit from W3TC plugin to make use of Memcached and APC. How many websites do you run? What are the specs of your server?
