The recovery of the volume shouldn't be too difficult, depending on what the previous admin did. If they were working with the HDD sector alignment and miffed that, could be a little more difficult, but doable. If there is actually an LVM in place, should be smooth sailing. Either way, with a cloned copy you would be set. Upgrading/Expanding storage size on VMs is not difficult at all. I would probably end up creating a template for the newer VMs. Also would need to analyze in what way you would want to utilize the 4TB storage, as there are several methods all with Pros and Cons.
