OVERVIEW OF DAYTRIPPERS CHILDREN'S CHARITY Daytrippers ([login to view URL]) is a non-profit children’s charity, raising funds for trips to recognized educational and cultural institutions for school groups in lower-income and far- reaching areas in Ontario, BC, Alberta and the Maritimes. Daytrippers is a grassroots, Toronto- based charity run by its volunteers and no salaries are paid. As a relatively young and small organization, Daytrippers embraces new opportunities to accelerate its growth and manage that growth in a responsible manner. Through Daytrippers, inner city children have seen their first forest, children from rural communities have visited their first museum (and a few have seen their first escalator!), and children with special needs have felt accepted by their classmates by accompanying them on school trips for the first time. Daytrippers funded trips for over 150,000 children since 2000 raising over $1.6 million. This past year Daytrippers has sent over 10,000 students on more than 184 trips. We have collected approximately 30 minutes of video of students on a Daytrippers funded day trip as well as students in class talking about their experience. We would like to consolidate this footage into a promotional/awareness video of approximately 3 minutes in length. Purpose The purpose of the video is to raise awareness about Daytripper’s funding receipients and how funding impacts their lives/education. The video should showcase the different ways Daytrippers has enhanced/enriched learning by funding educational daytrips for students by featuring students and teachers who are recipients of funding as well as show how they've put it to use. It should highlight why the funding is important, how it benefits the classes and why donors should continue to donate!
