Hello, I'm looking for someone who can help me with building a circuit with a button that randomly selects an LED to light up, similar to an unbiased electronic dice. I'd like to be able to introduce or remove LED lights at will (ranging from 3-9 LEDs). Essentially each LED is situated within its own cube (that it lights up when selected from the button (see images)) so therefore I’d like to be able to connect the cubes in different 2D arrangements and for the circuit to run in the same way (random selection etc). The button cube will hold the button, battery and any essential circuitry and the LED cubes will hold one LED each and connections on all four sides. The images I've attached show potential ways it could look. The available space in each cube is roughly 71x71x40mm but this can be adjusted depending on the proposed circuitry. Any help with building the circuit needed to make this work would be greatly appreciated!!

Hi! There are, most likely, several ways for such circuit to work. One with rather simple circuit I though of would be that contacts on each side of led cube should match total (maximum) number of leds you wish to use plus one for return path. In each led cube led itself would be attached to one signal line and other lines would pass through. For example with 10 led cubes in each of these cubes led would be attached to different signal line. In central cube there would be micro controller with two functions when button is pressed. It would at first detect signal lines that are actually connected to leds (without lighting them up) and then use some sort of random sequence to light up one of connected led. Micro controller will need to use one input and one output for each led cube. Input for detection and output to light the led. Ideally led cubes might be attached and removed on the run - without powering down central cube. If you are interested, I could run some tests and see how it works in reality. My proposal currently is for schematic and description of the circuit. I would test it with some microcontroller I do have. Generating truly random sequence might by somewhat tricky with smaller and simpler micro controllers.
